The Hobbit and The Hobbit 2 have officially been greenlit and Peter Jackson has been named the director. In what has been a long process and once had Guillermo del Toro attached to direct is now a bit clearer. Guillermo del Toro put in his resignation as director after the movies looked like they would never get off the ground. We still have issues of an actor’s strike in New Zealand that could move shooting to another location. If the movie gods can arrange to get Peter Jackson back into the director’s chair I wouldn’t be surprised if they rise sea levels all over the globe until the last dry spot in the world to film is a mountain top in New Zealand. With filming beginning in February 2011 we won’t have long to wait. Get your galoshes ready.
