Paranormal Activity 3 has a release date set of October 21, 2011. It is looking like the Paranormal franchise is eyeing the throne of October Horror King that the Saw franchise has sat in this past decade. Paranormal Activity 2 was succesful because it did not change course (see: Blair Witch franchise) when it went through the sequel-generator. Now the question is; will the audience tire of seeing the same movie over and over again with nothing but a few charater names changed (see: Wild Things franchise). My guess is no, they will eat it up.
