American Pie Reboot?

Rumors have it that some members of the cast of American Pie are interested in rebooting the franchise.  I am guessing the article (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=63444) has it wrong and they are actually interested in a follow-up sequel.  The idea of a reboot is to start the franchise over and give it a fresh start.  ‘Fresh’ in this case would mean an updated retelling or an updated cast.  I  couldn’t see any circumstance where they could ‘reboot’ the franchise with the same cast.   The cast is too old to play high school students and too young to play the parents of high school students.  I wouldn’t put it past the combined intelligence (which peaks with Tara Reid) of the American  Pie cast to call for a “reboot” when they really meant “money grubbing sequel”.

The bigger question would be why in the hell are they making anything American Pie related at all.  The series diminished into bad writing, bad acting and non-humor and that was by the time it got to American Pie 2.   Then seeing Eugene Levy stumble around the direct-to-video cheapquels was really kind of sad.  The series has given us five horny Stiflers already (Steve, Matt, Erik, Dwight, Scott).  Is the public really hungry for another American Pie?
